Step 1: Grind to the Purple Stamp (Adventurer Tier)
If you head straight to the southwest corner of the map right after starting the game, you will find nothing but an empty hillside. Before the game triggers the specific barn find rumor, you need to prove your exploration credentials. The Nissan R390 is gated behind your Explorer Stamp rating, and it requires some legwork to unlock.
Track Your Progress: Pull up your Campaign Menu, head into the Collection Journal, and select "Discover Japan" to see your current tier.
Earn Stamps: You need to go out into the open world and get active. Completing races, tackling story events, clearing open-world PR stunts, and hunting down mascot collections all count toward your tally.
Hit Level 6: Keep accumulating stamps until you hit Level 6, also known as the Adventurer Tier. Reaching this milestone grants you the Purple Stamp, which immediately triggers the radio rumor pointing you toward the hidden supercar.
Step 2: Hunting the Barn in Ohtani
Once the massive purple circle appears on your map, it is time to grab an off-road capable vehicle and head down to the southwestern region of the world map. The rumor circle centers around the scenic border area between Ohtani and Shimanoyama. While the search area looks large, finding the exact spot is easy if you know what landmarks to look for.
Locate the Gate: Drive over to the Ohtani region and look for the Bridge Underpasses Trailblazer event gate. This is your primary anchor point.
Find the Dirt Path: Stand near the Trailblazer gate and look immediately to its left. You will spot an unmarked, off-road dirt path flanked by two white wooden signs.
Follow the Trail: Turn onto this dirt path and follow it as it snakes all the way up the hill. The trail leads directly to a clearing where the weathered wooden barn is tucked away among the trees. Drive up to the doors to trigger the cutscene.
Quick Tip: The hill climb can get a bit slick if it is raining. Taking an AWD vehicle or a dirt-tuned ride makes navigating the path a lot smoother, though any car will eventually make it up the slope if you stick to the trail.
Step 3: Restoring Your New Prize
Pop the barn doors open and you will be treated to the sight of the legendary R390 GT1. Because the car has been sitting abandoned for years, it is not exactly in race-ready condition. You have two options to get it shiny and driveable:
The Patient Route (Highly Recommended): After the cutscene, the Nissan is sent straight to your garage, where your mechanics will begin a passive restoration process. This costs absolutely nothing. All you need to do is keep playing the game—go complete races, explore the map, or hang out in multiplayer. Over time, the car fixes itself for free, and you will get a notification when it is ready.
The Instant Route: If you absolutely cannot wait to take it for a spin, you can go to the Barn Finds menu in your garage and pay a credit fee to skip the timer instantly. However, this fee is exceptionally steep. Unless you have millions of credits burning a hole in your virtual pocket, it is much wiser to just let the timer tick down naturally while you enjoy the rest of the campaign.
